Realtors Make The Worst Buyers...
If doctors are the worst patients, Realtors may be the worst home buyers...
You know the saying "Doctors make the worst patients"? Well, I am reasonably sure that Realtors make the worst buyers.
Why? Let me give you an example...
Seventeen years ago my wife (also a Realtor) and I began a search for a new home. Being in the real estate business, we knew exactly what we wanted. The home had to have a two-car garage. It had to have a first floor master bedroom. It had to have a killer kitchen.

So what did we end up buying? We purchased a sweet cape on a deadend street...with NO garage, NO first floor master bedroom, and an outdated and barely functional kitchen.
Why? Because we rationalized the issues and told ourselves that we could always build a garage (never did), that we could extend and rebuild the kitchen (we did), and that we were young enough to go up and down the stairs to our bedroom (we still are).

After 17 wonderful years in our current home, we are now building a new home across the street and guess what? It has a two-car garage, a first floor master bedroom and a killer kitchen. The added bonus is that we get to keep our same neighborhood friends (they can help us move!).
Some things are well worth waiting for.
