Do You Remember When?

A search for missing facts from local history ... info historians didn't think was interesting

No, this is not about the Toni Braxton song.

And, no, I'm not taking a page out of the Jim Daly book, "Grandma, do you
remember when."

It's about my interest in local history, and I hope yours.

About seven years ago, I began writing about the history of Wenham.
For reference, I found many historical books and documents, but they are missing
many specific facts.

For me, writing history is like working on an old jigsaw puzzle and finding
that there are some missing pieces.

So far, I've written about a couple dozen subjects. Many are almost done,
but I'm unable to finish ... pieces are missing.

My current main interest is Main Street, Wenham.

Every other week, I'll be posting a history question for which I hope
someone will provide an answer ... a missing piece to my puzzle.

Here's the first "Do you remember when?"

When did Wenham close the dog pound on Main Street and why?

It must have been before 1973, for the 1973 Wenham Annual Town Report says
that the town no longer had a dog pound.
