What is Open and Closed in Hamilton and Wenham on the Fourth of July?
Independence Day is a federal holiday on Thursday.
It's the Fourth of July on Wednesday - officially known as Independence Day - which means some businesses are closed, others have limited hours and others are open with regular hours. The best bet is to call ahead to check - you can use Patch's directory page to find the phone number for any local business - but here’s a wrap-up of some of the businesses and government offices that you are most likely to be wondering whether it is open or not.
Government: Hamilton Town Hall, Wenham Town Hall and Hamilton-Wenham Library are all closed.
Mail: The Hamilton, South Hamilton and Wenham post offices are all closed. There is no mail delivery.
Trash: There is no trash collection in Hamilton - it is delayed by one day. And trash collection will be delayed by a day for the rest of the week.

Banks: The Hamilton branches of People’s United Bank, Bank of America and Salem Five are all closed on Wednesday.
MBTA: Commuter trains will run on a Saturday schedule. The last train to leaves North Station at 11:15 p.m. An outbound train on the Rockport line, making all the stops in Beverly except North Beverly, departs at 11:45 p.m.

Pharmacies: CVS will be open and Connolly’s Pharmacy will be closed.
Groceries: Crosby’s will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Convenience Stores: Richdale and Hamilton Convenience and are both open regular hours.
