Memorial Day Weekend Festivities in Hamilton

Get your spot along the parade route.

Memorial Day is upon us, and Hamilton celebrates in style with its annual parade.

On Friday, May 23, assemblies are held at the local schools, conducted by the American Legion. On Friday at 5 p.m., veterans place flowers at the cemetery and place flags on all of the gravesites.

On Sunday, May 25, veterans are invited to a breakfast in the Legion Hall at 8:30 a.m., followed by a Memorial Service at the First United Methodist Church, 391 Bay Rd., at 9:50 a.m. All are welcome.

On Monday, May 26, the annual parade takes off from Town Tall at 8:55 a.m., marching to the Soldiers Monument, where the Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School Band performs "God of Our Fathers." The march then continues to the cemetery, with the band continuing to play. The Board of Selectmen deliver a presentation, and the ceremony also includes decorating the graves, and a performance of "Amazing Grace."
