POLL: Where Should The Westford Farmers' Market Be Located?

It's been a topic of discussion in Westford recently and today we're looking for some clarity on what the next step should be.

Over the past few weeks, we've gotten over 70 comments as of today recommending that the Westford Farmers' Market move from the to another location in town like the or the .

The consensus from that piece appears to be that everyone wants the Westford Farmers' Market to continue and thrive in town. However, there are fears around parking near the town center and traffic, .

Today we ask you, the readers of Westford Patch what you think the answer should be for where the Westford Farmers' Market calls its home from the Spring to the Fall.

Should it remain in the Common? Should it head to the Abbot School or another school in town on the weekends? Should it go to another outdoor venue in town that has hosted events like the or the ? Should the Market attempt to find a home with a local business in town, like they did with in the Winter? Or is there another solution?

What are your thoughts, Westford?

Joseph, It's perfectly okay to ask friends to come and vote on the poll. The data I'm seeing indicates that there hasn't been any automated voting so far, but I'll keep an eye on it. This poll isn't actually the biggest one we've had, back in November for the finals of the Pizza Tournament, it was a couple thousand votes in a week's period. I believe some other Patches have gotten polls that have had tallies in six figures in times they went nationally, but I can't confirm that.

Thanks for the info Andy. And no disrespect, but 70 comments in a month to 2500 votes in just a few days...you smell what I am stepping in? (You seem to like those little sayings, so i had to throw 1 in that I though you would like). And of course its all fun and games...clearly some are really taking it to task as a true ballot/campaign. It is awesome. That said, you mentioned attending the BOS meeting Tuesady Andy..will you just be an observer or be asking questions based on what you have seen via the patch blog/poll? I think you will offer a pretty unbiased view to the BOS if you decide to speak up. And your opinion might actually inspire yourself in some way? Just an idea, keep up the good work and reporting, thanks for everything.

I would like to set for the record that any perceived over voting on the "pro common" vote is not solicitous activity by the farmer's market. As one of the people that manage the marketing for the WFM, we have only posted the poll one time on our Facebook page and that is it. We also posted a poll about some upcoming film screenings and workshops. We didn't get 1,000+ votes on that. This is a hot issue that clearly people feel passionate about to weigh in on and share with their friends. The number of comments on both the poll and original blog posts show that sentiment as well.

Okay, I think things have died down enough to close the poll. Just a reminder that the poll is not scientific.

Late vote ......4H grounds ... good parking / some covered area if weather not good ... but an outdoor feeling ...
