Hamilton Photographer Awarded 'People's Choice' Award for Appleton Photo

One of the winning photos in this year's photo contest put on by the Trustees of the Reservations came from a Hamilton teenager.

A Hamilton photographer has been awarded the People's Choice award in this year's photo contest put on by the Trustees of the Reservations.

Zachary Grimshaw won for his photo of two friends at Appleton Farms Grass Rides. The Get Out! Photo Contest prompted more than 550 photo entries and there were a total of nine winners, including a grand prize winner and eight People's Choice award-winners in four categories, with one photo selected each in the adult and teenager age categories.

The grand prize winner won a two-night stay at one of the Trustees' inns, either The Inn at Castle Hill in Ipswich or The Guest House at Field Farm. Each of the People's Choice winners, including Grimshaw, got an "outdoorsy goody bag."

All of the submitted photos had to be taken on a Trustees property, which in Hamilton includes Appleton Farms and Appleton Farms Grass Rides.

In a description of the photo posted on the Trustees website, Grimshaw said that he took his prize-winning photo of his friends Callie and Bryn, who both ran up a hill and then rolled down the other side at the Grass Rides.

Grimshaw, a student at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School, won the award in the teenager age group of the "Get a Life" category.

Kimberly Nyce of Malden also won the People's Choice award for adults in the "Get Down on the Farm" category for her photographs of cows at Appleton Farms. The farm lies in both Hamilton and Ipswich, but the cow barn is located in Ipswich. Three of the others winners - Sara Cuthbertson of Lexington, Nate Mineo of Essex and Grace Neale of Stoneham - all took winning photos at Crane Beach in Ipswich.
