The Cat in the Hat narrates the story
of Horton, an elephant who discovers and protects a speck of dust on which live
the Whos all while faithfully guarding an abandoned egg, left to his care by
the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger,
kidnapping, and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him.
Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are
challenged and emerge triumphant!
Director
and Choreographer, Kelly Murphy is thrilled to be working with the Community House Theater
again this summer after directing and choreographing “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” and "The Show Must Go On". Kelly was most recently
an honored cast member of The Burlington Players production of "Radium Girls" winning “Best Production
“at AACT National Theater
Festival in Indiana competing with theater companies from all over the
country. Performing for over 25 years with
several local community theaters, she has received an EMACT/DASH award “Best
Actress in a Musical” for her role as Gertrude McFuzz in “Seussical” with Neverland Theater. Kelly toured professionally with American
Family Theater playing Becky Thatcher in “Tom Sawyer”. Musical Direction will be conducted by Carolyn
Pilanen-Kudlik Choral Director of Beverly High School.
