"I Was There" Film Workshops for Veterans at Patton Homestead

Active-duty and retired vets who are coping with the stresses associated with military service and deployment, are invited to a 4-day filmmaking workshop at the Patton Homestead in Hamilton. The free workshop runs from Oct. 15 to Oct. 18th and is led by author/filmmaker Benjamin Patton, grandson and son of Generals George S. Patton. No prior filmmaking experience is necessary.

Participants will learn editing and filmmaking techniques and will be supervised by professional filmmakers.  All equipment is provided. Each veteran will make their own short film to take with them.

This is the second "I Was There" film workshop offered by Ben Patton at the Patton Homestead this year. A special guest instructor at the upcoming workshop is Emmy Award-winning director, Michael Brown. His award-winning documentary - High Ground - tells the story of 11 wounded warriors as they scale the Himalayas and learn a lot about themselves.

There are two sessions from which to select: AM (9 to 12:30) and PM (1:30 to 5). Space is limited to 24 veterans so advance sign-up is required. To apply online go to: http://tinyurl.com/PattonOCT2013 or call R. Barbato at (978) 281-9740. The Patton Homestead is located at 650 Asbury Street, Hamilton. "I Was There" is an initiative of the Patton Veteran's Project.
