Ballot Questions - Informational Forum by the League of Women Voters

A forum to explain and discuss two State Ballot questions and two local warrant articles will be sponsored by the Hamilton-Wenham League of Women Voters on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Buker Elementary School. The League, aware that voters will need to know about these issues before National elections (Nov. 6) and both towns’ fall meetings (Hamilton on Oct. 13 and Wenham on Oct. 27) has invited state and local representatives to explain their positions on the issues. There will be time for discussion.

Speaking in favor of Question 2, Prescribing Medication to End Life” on the State Ballot will be Dr. Paul Spears, representative from “Yes On Dignity.”  The speaker against, Dr. Alexandra Cist, will speak for “The Committee Against Physician Assisted Suicide.”

The State Ballot’s Question 3 has to do with “Medical Use of Marijuana.”   Speaking for it will be Dr. Karen Munkacy from “Committee for Compassionate Medicine.”  Speaking against it will be Marilyn Belmonte from “Vote no on Question 3.

The last part of the evening will be devoted to an explanation of ballot Question 4 and Question 5, captial debt exclusion overrides totaling $2mil requested by the School Committee.  They are presented as two separate questions because one project is eligible for state grant which requires a separate vote.

The League also reminds residents that the deadline to register to vote in the November 6 is Oct. 17.
