Wintry Mix To Hit All-Day Tuesday

A winter storm that starts as snow, changes to a wintry mix and ends as rain is expected to hit Hamilton and Wenham on Tuesday.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for Tuesday because several inches of snow followed by sleet and freezing rain is expected.

The winter weather advisory, issued by the National Weather Service at 4:10 p.m. on Monday, runs from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

The weather service said snow and “possibly a brief period of sleet or freezing rain” is forecasted for Tuesday. Two to six inches of snow is forecasted to fall, with the total likely to be the lower end of the range in Hamilton and Wenham.

Snow is expected to begin between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. and eventually change to rain by late Tuesday afternoon.

Drivers are cautioned that untreated roads will become slippery by Tuesday afternoon.

After the changeover to rain, there may be flooding in poor drainage areas.
