Severe Thunderstorm Warning in Effect for Hamilton and Wenham

Hamilton and Wenham are under a severe thunderstorm warning through 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

A severe thunderstorm capable of producing damaging wind and hail is headed toward Hamilton and Wenham on Wednesday afternoon. Just before 1 p.m., the National Weather Service said the storm was moving east at 30 miles per hour. The severe thunderstorm warning for Essex County, plus parts of Middlesex County in Massachusetts and Hillsborough County in New Hampshire, runs through 2 p.m. The storm track runs from the Nashua, N.H. area toward the North Shore.

In addition to producing hail the size of quarters, the storm can produce wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour. Deadly lightening and heavy rain is also possible with the storm.

Anyone who is in the line of the storm is advised to go to an interior room on the lowest floor of the building.
