A Spring Spaniel missing from Ipswich for a week has been repeatedly sighted in Hamilton and Wenham in recent days but remains on the run.
Owner Lynn Fouhey said the dog, 6-year-old Sonny, ran from his fenced in area in the backyard of their home, off Linebrook Road in Ipswich, on Feb. 11. But for the past five days, sightings have been coming in from Hamilton and Wenham, most recently on Thursday near and in Hamilton.
“I have to take that as a real sign,” she said.
Fouhey said that she has been told that Sonny made his trip into Hamilton, and then later Wenham, on Monday. She was told from witnesses that he ran down Asbury Street from to Highland Street and into Wenham on Arbor Street and down Main Street to Lake Avenue near the two golf clubs.
Fouhey said she received a call from Rick Atwater, a Hamilton resident whose German Shepherd Bullet went missing for 12 days last May but was found safe and sound in Manchester-by-the-Sea. Fouhey said he called her and encouraged Fouhey to continue to have faith that Sonny will return.
Fouhey said she received several calls a day and word about Sonny has been spreading on everything from Facebook to the Essex County Trails Association e-mail list.
Fouhey can be reached by phone at 978-621-4245 if you have seen Sonny or have caught him.
