Tierney Announces Over $289,000 for Cape Ann Transportation Authority’s Veterans Initiative

PEABODY, MA.- Today, Congressman John F. Tierney announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) will be obligating $289,080 in federal funding as part of the agency’s Veterans Transportation and Community Living Initiative.

“I am pleased that the funds for this important initiative will be obligated to the Cape Ann Transportation Authority,” said Congressman John Tierney. “The Cape Ann area is home to a robust veteran’s community, and efforts like the Veterans Transportation and Community Living Initiative will allow our veterans and their families to stay connected with the resources and services they rely on by streamlining access to safe and reliable transportation options for medical, education, healthcare and employment opportunities.”

The Veterans Transportation and Community Living Initiative is a comprehensive grant program administered by the Federal Transit Administration that helps connect veterans and their families with jobs, healthcare services and other resources by increasing access to reliable local transportation. The Cape Ann Transportation Authority was awarded a grant of $289,080 to coordinate its services with those of paratransit providers in the greater Boston area and other urban centers by sharing route information and integrating technology.
