Two Local Shops Named Tops on the North Shore

According to Northshore Magazine, these local businesses are the best.

Each year, Northshore Magazine selects businesses across the region for its prestigious "Best of the North Shore" awards.

This year, there are two businesses in Hamilton and Wenham that received the designation, and other that received a quick mention.

The magazine awards editors' picks and readers' picks.

  • French Lessons Boutique in Hamilton won editor's choice for women's casual clothing. The magazine said that the store, which also has a location in Newburyport, "provides a unique and glamorous shopping experience." French Lessons was listed as being located on Bay Road, but it moved across the street into The Shoppes at Hamilton Crossing in 2011. The magazine noted French Lessons has department store brands as well as "more diversity from lesser-known designers."
  • Viola Lovely in Wenham was named editor's choice for women's upscale clothing. The magazine said shopping at the store "is like perusing the closet of that inherently stylish girlfriend who’s always ahead of the trends and never makes a fashion misstep." The store has brought Los Angeles style to the North Shore and has become "a go-to boutique for Boston-area ladies who are serious about style," according to the magazine.
  • Henry's of Beverly was editor's choice for gourmet market, but the magazine noted a Wenham connection in telling readers that Henry's "fine foods are featured Fridays at the Wenham Tea House" at dinner.
