Too Hot To Cook? How About Chinese Takeout?

Each Thursday, Hamilton-Wenham Patch brings you North Shore Nibbles, with a look at dining options in the region. This week, we take a look at Chinese food.

The General Gao chicken is a favorite at Fortune Palace II, which sits along the causeway in Essex. Customers can choose to make it hot or not. Another dish that many people like is the triple nut delight, manager Fang Lau said. It includes chicken, beef and shrimp served with cashew nuts, honey walnuts and peanuts.

For appetizers, people usually order chicken wings and Crab Rangoons, said Lau. Open for 17 years, they also serve sushi. Order the spicy Tuna Maki or if you aren't as adventurous a California roll with suffice.

Danvers

The most popular dish at is the combination appetizer platter, said manager Ben Ng. It comes with Chicken Fingers, Beef Teriyaki, Chicken Wings and Crab Rangoons. People usually choose that with an order of fried rice, Ng said. Hong Kong has been in business for almost 10 years and their ingredients are local, according to Ng.

Salem

If you're really hungry, Salem's East Sakura Chinese and Sushi Buffet on Highland Avenue offers all you can eat dining, all the time. The restaurant was formerly Mandarin Buffet. With eight different bars to choose from the choice are endless, said manager Alex Lee.

Lee said it is hard to decide what customers prefer the most because of the large variety. There's a sushi bar, salad bar, two seafood bars and many more. Lee said that one of the great things about East Sakura is their schedule. They don't close between lunch and dinner.

"We want to provide the customer the time they need to eat," Lee said.

There are about 100 dishes to choose from. Some of the choices are chicken wings, General Gao chicken, Crab Rangoons, noodles and crab meatballs. They also serve oysters, but only in the evening.
Lunch is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for $8.99. Dinner begins at 3 p.m. for $13.99.

East Sakura has been open under its new name less than a year, but if it's tradition you're in the mood for check out Fortune Island. Open for 35 years, customers agree that the General Gao chicken is the best plate, the restaurant said.
