Talbots to Close up to 100 Stores by 2013; Will Hamilton's Store be on the List?

The woman's retailer Talbots announced on Tuesday it plans to close up to 100 of its 580 store in the next three years.

Talbots, the women's clothing retailer that has a store in downtown Hamilton, announced today it will close 75 to 100 stores by the end of 2013.

The Hingham-based company made the announcement in a press release issued on Tuesday morning. It didn't say exactly which stores it planned to close and didn't say whether the Hamilton store is on that list.

The company said it would expiring leases and renewal dates to time the store closures.

Nationwide, the company has 580 stores, including stores in the North Shore Mall in Peabody and in Newburyport.

The company, which is public, also lowered its third quarter and full year revenue forecasts, saying now it expects 2010 revenue to increase by about 1 percent.
