POLL: A Look at Top Priced Homes For Sale

A look at some of the most expensive homes for same in Hamilton and Wenham right now.

Typically, each Friday we provide a look at five homes that are for sale and are holding open houses on Sunday. But with Christmas Day this Sunday, there are no open houses. So instead we take a quick look at some of the top priced homes on the market in the two towns.

The top priced home in both towns in a 31-acre estate built by Joseph D. Leland & Co. in 1927. The 12,287 square foot home includes 30 rooms – including seven bedrooms and a five-car garage. The annual tax bill is $52,762.

$4.95 million

Along a stretch of Route 1A in Hamilton, there are several multi-million dollar homes currently for sale and including Aquilla Farm, an 80-acre property described in the real estate listing as “one of the few authentic and fully operational equestrian estates on the North Shore.”

The main home has five bedrooms and 4-1/2 baths with 8,150 square feet of living space. There’s also 19 stalls in several barns, plus a pool and four ponds on the property. The annual tax bill is $61,284.

482 Bay Road, Hamilton

$4.85 million

Devon Glen is a 66-acre estate that is home to a 7,147 square foot main house built in 1936. There’s also a barn with a “grand carriage room” for entertaining. The annual tax bill is $51,745.

65 Dodges Row, Wenham

$2.9 million

This contemporary home on nearly eight acres was built in 1967. A back patio looks out over the wooded property that abuts Long Hill reservation and there is a restored barn that’s home to two bedrooms and 2-1/2 bathrooms. The annual tax bill is $14,814.

300 Bridge St., Hamilton

$2.695 million

The nine bedroom, seven bathroom “Brackenside” home is a renovated equestrian estate overlooking lawns and pastures. The 11,969 square foot main home is brick and “exudes European chic and casual elegance,” according to the real estate listing. There’s also an in-ground pool and tennis court. The annual tax bill is $52,206.
