Hounds Could Possibly Join Fall Horse Parade

A new annual fall tradition is a horse parade through downtown Hamilton, and one selectmen is hoping to add hounds to the parade.

A Hamilton selectmen said he will work with other town leaders to see if there is a way to include hounds in a horse parade through downtown later this fall.

The parade started last year as a way to kick off the Harvest Festival in the downtown village, but did not include hounds because of a lack of insurance coverage.

Jeff Hubbard said the town needs to get an insurance rider to cover the hounds and he will check to find a way to get the coverage.

"I have not heard the cost yet," he said. "Obviously it would have to be affordable to make sense to add the hounds, so hopefully not more than a few hundred dollars, and out of the meals tax so property taxes wouldn't cover this."
