The top honors for the North Shore bike shop came from customers and enthusiasts in the industry.

Fit Werx 2, a specialty shop in downtown Peabody on Foster Street,
and the original store in Waitsfield, Vt., are owned by Marty Miserandino of Hamilton and Dean Phillips of Wenham.

The two shop were recently ranked No. 1 on a list of "America's Best Bike Shops 2013" by The Active Times, an online publication dedicated to active and adventurous lifestyles.

According to The Active Times' staff, the top billing came from readers, who were asked to vote for the best local shops across the nation. Fit Werx specializes in road and triathlon bicycles, bike fittings and services.

“We are honored to be listed as the Best Bike Shop in America. Peabody and Waitsfield, Vt. may not seem like the hot beds for road and triathlon cycling enthusiasts, but people travel here from around the world to work with us. We truly appreciate, and are thankful for, our clients making this happen,” said Miserandino, sharing the news.
