Salem

Longboards Cafe & Bar is expected to open next month on Pickering Wharf. Here's a preview of the 2,000-square foot space. In other expected openings, Opus, a long-advertised high-end restaurant for Washington Street, is set to begin service soon.

Also on the horizon is the grand opening of Medusa's Cafe and Sugar Rush

Swampscott

Looking for just the right craft beer or local wine? Sea Glass Wine & Beer just opened on Humphrey Street. Owner Michelle Penney is super-friendly and ready to help, if our visit to her shop was any indication.

Marblehead

Casa Corona is finally serving booze after a long, strange pursuit and acquisition of a liquor license. Also in Marblehead, we recently saw the shuttering of Joey D's Italian Grill.

North Andover

The popular farm-to-table guest chef series, "Whim" continues on Wednesdays at Smolak Farms. Each week a high-end restaurant like Rialto in Cambridge or Lineage in Brookline sends a chef to create a special dinner. On a lower-brow note, but just as yummy, North Andover also recently welcomed Heav'nly Donuts to the breakfast pastry scene.

Andover

The manager at Raagini Indian Bistro got into hot water for allegedly serving alcohol to a minor — a 17-year-old girl he happened to be dating him. The restaurant's liquor license was taken away for two days as punishment.
