Black Cow Closed for Renovations, Plans Vestibule and Fireplace Changes

The Black Cow restaurant in Hamilton is closed for renovations.

The in Hamilton closed in recent days to undergo renovations, according to several signs on the front windows of the downtown Hamilton business.

Owner Joe Leone said on Wednesday that he does not yet have all the details on the changes planned for the Bay Road restaurant – one of three public restaurants in Hamilton with waiter service. He said he would update Patch about the planned renovations when he has them. Leone didn’t say how long the renovations would take or whether he plans anything such as a name change or cuisine changes.

The Black Cow has filed for a building permit to remove the front vestibule and to create a gas fire pit in the existing fireplace, according to the Hamilton Building Department. The changes have the approval of the too.

I think the lighting is perfect. Fixing that vestibule area and maybe opening up the bar area is a good idea.

two words: comfort food...live entertainment....will make customers stay.. and i can book some great small entertainment for them ..

I've always loved the energetic yet cozy atmosphere, especially at the bar area. Expanding the bar would capitalize on this. Perhaps the easiest -and most necessary- change they could make would be to improve the food quality.

I agree with RC. The Black Cow in Hamilton used to be one of my favorite restaurants but the last 3 times I went the food was substandard and the last time we went my husband and I decided it was the last chance. So if the food gets better.... I always loved the atmosphere. My husband is a professional muscian so maybe a night of Jazz during the week would bring people in.
