'Ted 2' Coming to Appleton Farms

A hit 2012 movie starring Mark Wahlberg and the voice of Seth McFarlane is returning to the North Shore and Boston area this summer for filming, according to an industry report.

Seth McFarlane and his character “Ted” are slated to return to the North Shore again this summer, with plans to film some scenes at Appleton Farms.

The website OnLocationVacation.com reports that a barn is under construction at Appleton Farms - partly in both Hamilton and Ipswich - and that scenes will be filmed there starting Aug. 20.

Already, a production office has been set up in Boston and "Ted 2" filming is scheduled to start there next week, according to OLV.

Shooting for the sequel comes on the heels of the 2012 film “Ted,” starring Boston native Mark Wahlberg, with some scenes shot in Swampscott in 2011. A waterfront home on Atlantic Avenue was used for a scene in the movie.

McFarlane is also the producer of "Ted 2," which stars Wahlberg as John Bennett, whose teddy bear Ted has come to life, according to Internet Movie Database.  McFarlane is the voice of Ted. Bennett, of course, is a North Shore native. The plot of "Ted" said he was born in Swampscott. In "Ted 2," Bennett's friendship is "tested" when his girlfriend of four years wants more from their relationship, according to IMDB.

"Ted" was the highest-grossing R-rated film in 2012.
