'Stompers' and Street Party Top Local Weekend Events Calendar

Get a quick look at some of the local events happening this weekend in Hamilton and Wenham and nearby on the North Shore.

Summer is in high gear and there’s a great selection of summertime events this weekend. Among the highlights - the Squeezebox Stompers come to Asbury Grove in Hamilton and downtown Beverly plays host to its first ever block party. 

Plus, there's a lot of other events going on in Hamilton and the nearby area of the North Shore, including Military History Day on Saturday at Wenham Museum, Neverland Theater’s Shrek the Musical opening on Sunday and Art Grows Here runs all week across Hamilton and Wenham.

1. MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM

Where/When: Hale Farm, Beverly; Saturday and Sunday, 4 p.m.

Why Go: Free outdoor Shakespeare comes to Beverly this weekend as the Striving Artists Theatre Company puts on two shows on the grounds of the Hale Farm at 39 Hale St.

2. ‘THE BLOCK’ BLOCK PARTY

Where/When: downtown Beverly, Cabot Street between Federal and Pond streets; Saturday, 5:30-9:30 p.m.

Why Go: There’s been a lot of excitement about this new event, which will close off a section of Cabot Street in downtown Beverly for free live music from local band Caspian combined with an on-street bar combined with all sorts of local food options available, from lobster rolls to pizza.

3. YARD SALES

Where/When: Various locations

Why Go: There’s always some great deals available at yard sales, whether it’s a common household item or kids item you need or you’re in a quest for a more unique or rare find. You can use our interactive map to find yard sale listings on the North Shore.

4. SQUEEZEBOX STOMPERS

Where/When: Asbury Grove tabernacle, Hamilton; Saturday,

Why Go: The Squeezebox Stompers bring an “exciting blend of Cajun, Zydeco, Blues and Bluegrass music” to a concert at Asbury Grove on Saturday night – open to all.

Pricing: Suggested $5 per person donation

5. SUNDAY CONCERTS

Where/When: Patton Park, Hamilton; Sunday, 5-7 p.m. and Lynch Park, Beverly; 6-8 p.m., Lynch Park.

Why Go: The forecast sounds great to get out and enjoy a summer evening concert at a local part, whether its Jumbin’ Juba’s rhythm, blues and rock at the bandstand at Patton Park or Chris and Meredith Thompson at the shell at Lynch Park.
