PHOTOS: 'Sound of Music' Coming to Community House Stage

"The Sound of Music" will take the stage for two upcoming weekends at the Community House of Hamilton-Wenham.

Community House Theater will present the in-house production of Rogers & Hammerstein’s "The Sound of Music" on two weekends, March 1-3 and March 8-10.

It is directed by award-winning, internationally renowned stage and film actress Myriam Cyr, choreographed by Ball Room World Champion Greg Warwick with musical direction by Bonnie Anderson, who is a past performer with the Boston Pops.

This production "promises to delight audiences of every age," according to an announcement from the Community House. It will include professional and community actors from across the North Shore coming together to share the real-life story of the Von Trapp Family.

Captain Von Trapp stood up to Nazi tyranny and brought his family to America in search of a more just and equal world. The Sound of Music tells the love story that captured the hearts of millions,.

Sound of Music stars Hannah Mell (Jen from John and Jen), as Maria; Jeff Bowden (Sunset Boulevard) as the Captain; Greg Warwick (Hot Mikado, original cast of Fiddler on the Roof on Broadway), Lisa Watkins (Tanglewood), John Budzyna (NSMT’s A Christmas Carol), Jay Pension (Boston Children’s Theater ) Patricia Jamison (Nun-Sense) and  some talented young actors from the North Shore as the Von Trapp Children.

The show opens Friday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Community House of Hamilton and Wenham in Hamilton. Shows continue on Saturday, March 2 at 3 and 7:30 p.m., Sunday, March 3 at 3 p.m., Friday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, March 9 at 3 and 7:30pm and Sunday, March 10 at 3 p.m.

Advance tickets are $18 for adults and $13 for children. Tickets at the door will be $20 for adults and $15 for children.
