Retiring Museum Director to be Honored Wednesday

Lindsay Diehl is retiring as executive director at Wenham Museum and will be honored at a reception from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the museum.

Lindsay Diehl, the executive director at for six years, is retiring.

Her last day on the job is July 13, but she she will be honored with a reception at the museum on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m.

Diehl; said she needs more time to take care of her father, who is not doing well and lives in Florida.

“I need more time to travel down there,” she said in an interview in her museum office last week. “Otherwise I would not be leaving.”

Diehl became the interim director just week before the Mother’s Day flood in 2006 and helped lead the recovery after the lower level was badly damaged.

Before the Wenham Museum, Diehl serves as executive director of the Marblehead Arts Association in the King Hooper Mansion.

Christine Zampell, chairman of the Museum’s Board of Directors, said cover letters and resumes have already started to come in. The deadline to apply in June 22.

“It will take about another month to decide who will be called in for an interview,” she said.

Some applicants have come from outside the state, she said.
