Books to 'Pop' and Wrestlers to Enter 'War' This Weekend

The weekend may start out a little wet, and with that in mind we offer you plenty of happenings indoors. But, as the skies clear there's plenty of other events on the weekend calendar to enjoy the outdoors here in Hamilton and Wenham and the nearby area of the North Shore.

1. 'POP GOES THE BOOK' EXHIBIT

Where/When: Wenham Museum; Friday, Saturday and Sunday,

Why Go: This is the final weekend of a rather unique exhibit showing about 100 pop-up books or all shapes and sizes. It's just .

Pricing: $8 adults, $6 children

2. NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING ‘WAR ON THE NORTH SHORE’

Where/When: Cove Community Center, Beverly; Saturday, 7 p.m.

Why Go: The evening of wrestling will include three championship matches with a main event that features NECW Heavyweight Champion Antonio “The Promise” Thomas against an opponent to be named later.

Pricing: Adults, $12 in advance and $15 at the door; Children, $10.

3. COMMUNITY BLOOD DRIVE AND HELP FOR TORNADO VICTIMS

Where/When: American Red Cross Danvers Blood Donation Center, Danvers; Saturday, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Why Go: Stop by and donate blood and receive a $20 gift card to Carl Michael Salon. Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., Carl Michael Salon will be doing hair extensions, face-painting and raffles to accept donations for the victims of the Oklahoma tornadoes. All proceeds will benefit disaster relief services by the American Red Cross.

4. GET RID OF YOUR HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUSE WASTE

Where/When: Department of Public Services, Peabody; Saturday, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Why Go: The city will be putting on its annual Household Hazardous Waste Day this weekend. Non-residents are allowed to dispose of hazardous materials as well between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. You can find more details here.

Pricing: $20 per car load for residents; $24 for up to 10 pounds/gallons or $44 for up to 25 pounds/gallons for non-residents. Other fees may apply.

5. NORTH SHORE RUGBY INVITATIONAL 10S TOURNAMENT

Where/When: Hurd Stadium, Beverly; Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. (This event has been postponed to Saturday, June 15 because of wet field conditions).

Why Go: This will be the first-ever rugby tournament held on the (beautiful grass) at Hurd Stadium. It's a great chance to get an up-close look at a sport that is popular at some local colleges but does not get a lot of exposure. The $5 admission charge goes toward the Richard Family Fund, established for the family of Martin Richard, the 8-year-old boy killed in the Boston Marathon bombings. Cape Cod RFC, Boston Ironsides RFC, Framingham Exiles RFC and North Shore Rugby Football Club will be participating.

Pricing: $5 per person
