Thick Fog to Linger Through Midnight, Make Driving Hazardous

A dense fog advisory is in place through early Friday morning.

Dense fog will drop visibility to under a quarter mile on Thursday night, warns the National Weather Service.

A dense fog advisory was issued at 7:01 p.m. on Thursday for much of eastern Massachusetts, including the North Shore, plus parts of New Hampshire and Rhode Island. The advisory runs until 3 a.m. on Friday.

“Visibility will be at or below one-quarter mile through the first part of the night,” the weather service said in its advisory. “The fog will linger until showers and a wind shift are able to stir the air sufficiently.”
