Playground Nears Completion, No Grand Opening Date Yet

Construction of the new playground at Patton Park in Hamilton is in the "homestretch."

The new playground at Patton Park, which has been under construction for most of the summer, is nearing completion.

There's no grand opening date set yet, reports the Salem News.

In early July, Town Manager Michael Lombardo said assembly of the playground was delayed because of a spring that saw more rain than usual. Plus, some playground parts that were supposed to be delivered early-on did not arrive and had to be sent later.

Construction of the new playground was in the "homestretch" this week, Recreation Director Sean Timmons told the News.

The playground is the result of a two-year long fundraising effort by Friends of Patton Park, a community group that formed when they felt the existing equipment was inadequate and felt that a new, modern playground could be a draw for the community.
