Outpouring of Support 'Appreciated More Than Words Can Say'

The family of Pamela Wells, who was killed Saturday when a driver crashed into her during a 100-mile bicycle ride, is very appreciative of the outpouring of support from the community.

The family of Pamela Wells – the Hamilton wife and mother who was killed Saturday when a driver crashed into her during a noncompetitive bicycle ride in New Hampshire – is “enormously grateful” for the outpouring of support, according to a family friend.

“It is so incredible to live in a small town during a time like this,” said Leslie Desroches, a family friend who lives around the corner from the family and first met Wells and her husband Tom Rogers when they both had a child in the same kindergarten class.

Desroches said Rogers and the couple’s two high school-age children have been “enormously grateful for the outpouring from the community” that “is appreciated more than words can say.”

"Any way that people are supporting the Rogers is so appreciated," she said.

Community members have rallied to come up with a schedule to prepare a hot meal for the family ever other night through the end of the year. When the schedule filled up on Tuesday, more dates were added into the new year.

“The meals that are being provided are a wonderful gift and provide the family with the chance to sit down at the end of these very long days to share their feelings and discuss what is going on and what needs to happen next,” Desroches said.

She said the family has realized there is a “real benefit to living” in a town such as Hamilton, where “people are rallying around them.”
