Flags at Half-Staff Through Monday

Flags have been lowered to remember 95-year-old activist and leader Nelson Mandela.

Flags will be at half staff through Monday to honor former South African president Nelson Mandela.

Over the weekend, Governor Deval Patrick also ordered that flags were lowered to half-staff on Dec. 7 from sunrise to sunset in in honor of those who died at Pearl Harbor in 1941.

President Barack Obama has ordered that all flags be lowered to half-staff  until Monday, Dec. 9 to honor the passing of Mandela.

The orders applies to:

  • the main administration buildings of the state and municipalities (i.e. - the state house, town halls, etc.)
  • Other state or town-owned or controlled buildings
  • All military installations in the state.
