Five Things to Know on July 8: Discussions Continue on Teachers Contract

It is Monday, July 8. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham: 

1. Muggy: The humidity will continue on Monday, with temperatures in the low 80s. By afternoon, there will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms.

2. Story time: Weekly story times at Hamilton-Wenham Library resume on Monday. This includes Baby Bookworms, Music and Movement and Rhythm and Rhyme. Registration is required.

3. Fair: Are you already looking forward to the Topsfield Fair? Starting on Monday, you can buy discount tickets to this year’s fair. Tickets go on sale for $9 each, plus $25 three-day pass or a $5 food voucher. The regular price is $11 on weekdays and $15 on weekends and holidays. The fair opens on Oct. 4.

4. Spider Man: Again, special $3 shows at AMC Loews theater in Danvers continue this week with a showing of “The Amazing Spider Man.” The 10 p.m. show each night through Wednesday is a fundraiser for the Autism Society.

5. Negotiations: The School Committee’s Negotiations Working Group plans to meet on Monday evening to discuss strategy for negotiating a new contract for the nurses and teachers union. The meeting, at 5:30 p.m. at Center School, is slated to be called to order and immediately go into executive session.
