Five Things to Know on July 5: Sunday Concert to Feature Patriotic Tunes

An essential get-me-going daily morning column from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

It is Friday, July 5. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham:

1. Hot: It will be sunny and hot on Friday, with the temperature getting into the 90s again. The wind will blow from the west with gusts up to 20 miles per hour.

2. Trash: Trash pickup is delayed by a day for the rest of the week after Independence Day. If your pickup is typically on Thursday in Hamilton, it will now happen on Friday. That bumps back Friday pickup to Saturday.

3. Bay State Games: The summer Bay State Games get started on Friday, with amateur competition in sports ranging from baseball and basketball to rifle shooting and table tennis at locations across eastern and central Massachusetts.

4. Light Day: Commuters may find the ride to work a little lonely on Friday, as many workers have likely turned Thursday’s Independence Day holiday into a four day weekend. Routes to the lakes, mountains and beach may be backed up, as people escape to getaway destinations.
