Five Things to Know on July 4: Kids to Hunt for T-Rex in Two Towns

It is Thursday, July 4. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham: 

1. Hot: To describe the weather on Thursday in one word, it would be “hot.” The temperature is expected to get into the low 90s with a heat index of 100 degrees during the afternoon under sunny skies.

2. Independence Day: Thursday is Independence Day – also known as the Fourth of July, a federal holiday that celebrates the adoption of the declaration of independence on July 4, 1776. Federal and state offices are closed and many businesses are also closed.

3. T-Rex: Kids age 12 and under will be on the hunt for a T-Rex named Sue, who will be hidden all around the two towns this summer. Each week, from July 8 to Aug. 16, she’ll be in a different spot. Kids can submit their name at the library and be eligible for a prize.

4. Fireworks: There are several fireworks shows planned for Thursday in the area, including Beverly Farms and Salem.

5. Two Town Fourth: Hamilton and Wenham will celebrate the Fourth of July on Thursday at the Two Town Fourth at Patton Park from noon to 3 p.m. The event will start with a kids bicycle parade and opening ceremony and include a barbecue, kids games, arts vendors and more.
