Five Things to Know on July 3: Pingree’s Proposed Irrigation System to Undergo Review

An essential get-me-going daily morning column from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

It is Wednesday, July 3. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham:

1. Warmer: Oh what a treat it was on Tuesday afternoon, with temperatures down into the 60s and dry air. Things return back to “normal” on Wednesday, with temperature in the 80s, with fog early then cloudy skies and a chance of showers and thunderstorms.

2. Photographer: Ron Labbe, a 3-D photographer, will be at Wenham Museum on Wednesday to take photos of the museum’s doll collection. He’ll be at the museum through July, so call ahead to confirm he’ll be there. His photos will be used in an exhibit next year “featuring a variety of mediums inspired by the museum’s collection.”

3. Fireworks: There’s some fireworks shows coming up on Wednesday night here on the North Shore – in Danvers and Swampscott. In Danvers, it is the culmination of Family Festival and, some say, the best fireworks show in the area. In Swampscott, the fireworks light up the sky over the ocean.

4. Drivers License: An important reminder - the Mass Registry of Motor Vehicles is no longer providing the email notification reminders that your license is about the expire. The system was quietly discontinued earlier this year. As you might remember, the RMV discontinued mailing paper reminders a few years ago. Here’s a suggestion - check your license expiration date today and set a reminder in your phone, calendar or use some of the free online e-mail reminder systems.

5. ConsComm: The Hamilton Conservation Commission is scheduled to meet on Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. in the Memorial Room at Hamilton Town Hall. The commission will continue to review plans for an irrigation system at Pingree School and discuss a chain link fence on a Highland Street property that is not shown on the commission’s approved plan, among other items.
