An essential get-me-going daily morning column from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

It is Tuesday, July 2. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham:

1. Repeat: Unfortunately, the roller coaster of weather is expected to continue on Tuesday, with again a chance of showers and thunderstorms all day. The temperature will be about the same – around 80 – but the “muggies” will stick around.

2. Affordable: The Hamilton Planning Board meets on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. in the Memorial room at Hamilton Town Hall. The board is scheduled to hear from Fred Mills of the Hamilton Affordable Housing Trust, who will discuss priorities for the trust for the coming year, among other items.

3. Farmers: There’s a lot of great foods made very close to home, and for the past few days some of the food makers have been showing themselves off in New York City. The Summer Fancy Food Show has been going on at the Jacob Javits Center in the Big Apple and wraps up on Tuesday, with Lark Fine Food of Essex displaying its “cookies for grown-ups” plus chocolate and popcorn-makers from Salem are also there.

4. Emancipation Proclamation: It was 150 years ago this year that President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. The proclamation freed slaves in 10 states that were rebelling against the Union. The anniversary of the signing will be celebrated on Tuesday on Boston Common where Gov. Deval Patrick will host a “community reading” at noon.
