Five Things to Know: Live Performances Add to Art Grows Here

An essential get-me-going daily morning column from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

It is Tuesday, July 16. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham: 

1. Hot: There’s no way to avoid it – we’re headed into another heat wave. The forecast on Tuesday calls for the temperature to reach into the low 90s and the humidity will stick around, with a slight chance of an afternoon thundershower.

2. Performances: The second set of performances as part of Art Grows Here art exhibit happens on Tuesday. The performances starts at 6 p.m. at Hamilton-Wenham Library and include a poetry reading by Sylvia Collins, antagonist dance by Emma Andre, vocal duet by Katie Ryan and Mary Brao and Sosticks with Harry Sostek.

3. Hunger Games: The summer-long series of low price, early week showings of popular films continue on Tuesday and Wednesday night at the AMC Loews theater at Liberty Tree Mall. This week it is The Hunger Games, with shows each evening at 10 p.m. for $3. The shows benefit the Autism Society.

4. Free Fun: Cape Ann Waldorf School, on the grounds of Moraine Farm just over the Wenham line in North Beverly, is playing host Tuesday to some free fun. This week, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. is a session where children age preschool through grade school can play a string instrument along with a story time. The session is open to all.

5. Selectmen: The Wenham Board of Selectmen meets on Tuesday night at Wenham Town Hall at 7 p.m. The board’s is planned to get an update and status report on the search for a new Council in Aging Director and vote on a new union contract, among other items.
