Five Things to Know on July 12: Seniors Hear About Medicare from Congressman, Rep

An essential get-me-going daily morning column from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

It is Friday, July 12. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham:

1. Clouds: Clouds are expected to dominate the sky on Friday, with temperatures in the 70s and less humidity. The son may peek through and there’s a chance of a shower in the afternoon too.

2. Seniors: Congressman John Tierney will be hosting a Medicare seminar for about 50 seniors, plus Council on Aging directors from Essex County, at the Hamilton Senior Center on Friday at 11:30 a.m. along with State Rep. Brad Hill. The seminar will discuss “observation” versus “inpatient” status and how it affects seniors financially and be followed by a light lunch.

3. Herbs: Green Meadows Farm in Hamilton will host a “Cooking with Herbs” session on Friday morning with “Chef Manny,” who will present some of his “wonderful and unusual combinations.” The class is $10 and limited to 12 participants and part of a series of classes that runs all summer at the farm.

4. Chicken: In the off chance you own a chicken costume, Friday is a great day to put it to use. Anyone who shows up at Chick-Fil-A, with a local location at the North Shore Mall in Peabody, on Friday fully dressed as a cow for Cow Appreciation Day, will get a free meal.
