'The Yellow Boat' on Stage at Pingree
Pingree School's fall theater production of The Yellow Boat is based on the true story of Benjamin Saar, a young boy who suffered from a terminal illness and died in 1987 at the age of eight. Benjamin was an incredible visual artist and transformed his physical and emotional pain into vibrant, colorful paintings and drawings. This magical play was written by Benjamin’s father, David Saar, and takes the audience on a stunning visual and emotional journey of courage, hope, strength, and acceptance.
Pingree School’s unique adaption of this piece is a multimedia explosion of the arts with live, original music written and performed by members of the popular Amherst band Kids Choice, an Acapella performance by Pingree’s own vocal group, Spectrum, and a community visual art piece that will be featured as part of the set.
Performances will be Friday and Saturday, November 1 and 2, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, November 3 at 2:30 p.m. A $10 donation is requested at the door. For more information, call 978-468-4415. Pingree School is located at 537 Highland Street in South Hamilton and is handicapped accessible.
