Selectmen to Vote on Liquor License Renewals

A daily look at five things to know to get the day started from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

It is Tuesday, Nov. 26. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham:

1. Warmer: It will be warmer on Tuesday, with the temperature forecasted to get into the low 40s. The sky will be cloudy and there’s a chance of an evening shower.

2. Unemployment: Up to date unemployment statistics will be released on Tuesday by the state Bureau of Labor Statistics that will show the latest numbers for those out of work community-by-community, including in Hamilton and Wenham. Earlier this month, the bureau announced that the October unemployment rate statewide was 7.2 percent, up for 7.1 percent a month earlier.

3. Academy: The Hamilton Citizen Police Academy graduation is on Tuesday night at Hamilton-Wenham Library. Participants in the class will graduate at 6:30 p.m. It is the third citizens academy put on by the Hamilton Police Department and has been meeting on Tuesday nights since September. The classes include topics ranging from criminal law and evidence collection to motor vehicle enforcement and court procedures, plus each participants took part in a ride along and a tour of the Middleton jail.

4. Storm:  Anyone who is planning to travel to Thanksgiving dinner is likely keeping their eyes on the weather forecast on Tuesday. The storm is expected to be mostly rain here on the North Shore, but the heavy rain and strong, gusty winds will be enough to cause slow travel on the roads.

5. Selectmen: The Wenham Board of Selectmen meet on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Wenham Town Hall, where the board is scheduled to discuss and renew the town’s two liquor licenses and get a report on the fiscal 2013 audit.
