Running and Shopping on the Day After Thanksgiving

A daily look at five things to know to get the day started from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

It is Friday, Nov. 29. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham:

1. Sun: Friday will be much the same as Thursday, with sunny skies and temperatures around freezing. The winds will be lighter, though, blowing from the northwest at 8-10 miles per hour.

2. Black Friday: It is Black Friday, the shopping day each year that offers Christmas shoppers all sorts of deals with extra early opening times.

3. Grades: Grades for Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School students are slated to be updated in the online system Aspen by Friday for the first time in the second quarter.

4. Gabe’s Run: One of Hamilton-Wenham greatest fall traditions has become Gabe’s Run, a 5K race on the day after Thanksgiving to raise money for the Gabriel Pacione Memorial Scholarship. The race goes off at 9 a.m. with the women’s race at Patton Park and 9:45 a.m. for the men’s run, with a one mile fun run at 10:30 a.m. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. at a tent at Patton Park.

5. School: There is no school on Friday in the Hamilton-Wenham Regional School District schools and Pingree School. Most businesses are open, though, but it is best to call ahead before you head out.
