Registration Opens for Fall Library Programs on Wednesday

A daily look at five things to know to get the day started from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

It is Wednesday, Sept. 25. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham:

1. Beautiful: The streak of delightful autumn days continues on Wednesday, with the forecast calling for sunny skies and temperatures in the 60s.

2. Registration: Registrations opens up Wednesday for the fall programs at Hamilton-Wenham Public Library. The registration opens at 10 a.m. and is done in person at the library for programs ranging in age from babies to sixth graders, including a new program this fall titled Mythological Mayhem for grades 1-3 and 4-6.

3. Academies: U.S. Rep. John Tierney hosts Academy Night on Wednesday at North Shore Community College for high school students who are interested in knowing more about the country’s service academies. Representatives from the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy will all be there. The event is for students from across the Sixth Congressional District and happens Wednesday night from 7-9 p.m. at North Shore Community College in lecture hall DS119.

4. Funding: Learn how to solicit “Crowd Funding” for your business on Wednesday night at the Enterprise Center at Salem State College. The event will introduce “the hot new way to raise money for businesses of all sizes” with an expert panel beginning at 7 p.m. that will share the experience of Cinema Salem using it to pat to convert to a digital system.

5. FinComms: The Finance Advisory Committees from both Hamilton and Wenham will meet on Wednesday to discuss items of mutual interest, including several school items. School leadership is scheduled to meet with the FinComms to take a look ahead at the fiscal 2015 budget cycle and discuss school repairs funding that may go before Special Town Meeting this fall. The committees will meet together at 7:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room at Buker Elementary School
