Patton Estate to be Selectmen's Focus Tuesday Night

A daily look at five things to know to get the day started from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

It is Tuesday, Jan. 14. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham:

1. Rain: Tuesday will be a rain day, with a high temperature close to 50 degrees. There will be a light southwest wind with a better chance of fog during the second half of the day.

2. Bicycling: The adventures of bicycling north of the arctic circle will be the focus of a presentation Tuesday night at Hamilton-Wenham Library by amateur bicyclist Denis Beaudry. His 2,300 mile bicycle tour went from Helsinki, Finland to Nordkap, Norway, which is the unofficial top of the paved world. It starts at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

3. Theater: Glen Urquhart School in Beverly Farms will put on a free original children's theater musical play on Tuesday afternoon. "Little Sister" and "The Fisherman and His Wife" will be performed by seventh graders and is based on two folktales. It is appropriate for children of all ages and start at 3:15 p.m. at the school on Hart Street.

4. Admissions: North Shore Community College will accept students “on the spot” on Tuesday afternoon during an admission session. Classes for the winter/spring semester start on Jan. 21. Bring along proof of high school completion (a copy of your high school diploma, final transcript or GED) and college transcripts, if available. The sessions starts at 3 p.m. at the Danvers Campus, 1 Ferncroft Road, in room HP105.

5. Selectmen: The Hamilton Board of Selectmen will meet on Tuesday night for the second time in two nights. The board will meet at 6 p.m. in the Memorial room at Town Hall. Almost all of the meeting will be spent talking about issuing a Request for Proposals to sell a portion of the land at the Patton homestead.
