Learn How to Use Natural Items from Your Yard for Holiday Decorations

A daily look at five things to know to get the day started from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

It is Tuesday, Nov. 19. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham:

1. Wind: The wind is forecasted to really blow on Tuesday, with gusts up to 35 miles per hour. Temperatures will be in the mid-40s and the sky will be mostly sunny.

2. Farm Fun: Green Meadows Farm’s free programs for children continue on Tuesday with craft times and storytimes. Craft times, for ages 0-10, happens at both 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and there is a storytime at 11 a.m.

3. Commuter Rail: If you have something you’d like to say to the managers of the commuter rail system, your chance comes on Tuesday evening at North Station in Boston. Managers from Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Co., the company contracted to run the commuter rail system for the T, will be available to meet with riders from 4-6 p.m. at North Station, the final destination for all Hamilton-Wenham trains.

4. Dinner: The North Shore Chamber of Commerce is holding its annual dinner on Tuesday night at Danversport Yacht Club with keynote speaker Salem Mayor Kimberley Driscoll. The North Shore Distinguished Leadership Awards will be handed out, with recipients including Bill Cummings of Cummings Properties, Dr. Wayne Burton, the retired president of North Shore Community College and Jack Good of People’s United Bank and formerly at Beverly Hospital.

5. Holiday: If you’re looking for some ideas to freshen up your holiday decorations this year, Master Gardener Betty Sanders will be at Hamilton-Wenham Library on Tuesday at 7 p.m. to show participants how to decorate naturally for the holidays. She will create five arrangements using materials that grow in your yard. All of the arrangements she creates will then be given away as door prizes.
