A daily look at five things to know to get the day started from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

It is Friday, Aug. 30. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham:

1. Warmer: The temperature on Friday will get back up to normal, with the possibility of fog and clouds to start the day with a high temperature around 80. The chance of sun will increase as the day goes along.

2. Labor Day: Monday is Labor Day, a federal holiday that means government offices and some businesses are closed. There is no school on Monday and also on Friday to make it a four day weekend for students.

3. Library: Hamilton-Wenham Library will be closed on Saturday for the Labor Day weekend, in addition to the Monday holiday.

4. Slots: The deadline originally set for the state Gaming Commission to hand out the state’s only slots parlor license was this weekend. At one time, a developer had eyed a spot at Liberty Tree Mall in Danvers but it now looks like all the proposals are quite a distance from Hamilton and Wenham. It also looks as though the license may not be ready to be issued in the next few days.
