Last Chance Friday to Sign Up for Museum's New Year's Eve Celebration

A daily look at five things to know to get the day started from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

It is Friday, Dec. 27. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham:

1. Sun: The sun is forecasted to return to the sky on Friday. It will be a sunny day with a high temperature in the mid-30s and a west wind blowing at about 10 miles per hour.

2. New Year’s Eve: Friday is the final day to register your kids for the New Year’s Eve event at Wenham Museum. Lindsay and her Puppet Pals will be there along with Tony Fonseca in a family-friendly drum circle. The museum will be open on Tuesday just for the special event, which runs from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. It wouldn’t be New Year’s Eve for the children without noisemakers, hats, face painting and a ginger ale toast, which are all included. The price is $6 for museum members and $10 for non-members with a family maximum of $40 for five people.

3. Tunnel: The Callahan Tunnel will be closed for three months, starting at 11 p.m. on Friday. That may not be a big deal for many residents of Hamilton and Wenham, who likely use the Tobin Bridge to get in and out of Boston and use Route 60 to get to Logan Airport. The way it will actually help North Shore residents is that all three lanes on the Tobin will be open for the entire duration of the tunnel work, which will last until March 12.

4. Trash: Another reminder that trash pickup is delayed by a day for the second half of this week. Friday’s pickup is for those that typically have Thursday pickup in Hamilton, where pickup this week is just for recycling and organics.

5. Basketball: The Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School boys basketball team, which has started off the season at 3-1, returns home on Friday night to face Cape Ann League rival Masconomet Regional High School. The JV game is at 5 p.m. and the varsity game plays at 6:30 p.m.
