Hamilton Author to Host 'Tea and Talk' Tuesday Afternoon

A daily look at five things to know to get the day started from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

It is Tuesday, Oct. 8. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham: 

1. Sun: Tuesday is expected to be a partly sunny day, but a bit cooler than Monday with temperatures getting into the mid-60s. There will be a north wind that could gust up to 24 miles per hour.

2. Book: Hamilton author Barbara Lawrence will be at Wenham Tea House on Tuesday afternoon for “Tea and Talk.” She will talk about her first fiction book “Islands of Time.” It is being called a “Maine event,” since the novel is set in Maine. There will be blueberry scones baked by Chef Kim Gregory of Pure Pastries, opportunity for discussion and a drawing for door prizes from Maine. It runs from 3-5 p.m.

3. Movement: North Shore Waldorf School in North Beverly, just over the Wenham town line, is hosting a session on Tuesday evening to show how movement is part of its academic program. The session runs from 7-8:30 p.m. The school requests attendees RSVP to 978-927-1936.

4. Offshore Wind:  A weekly lecture series focused on climate change in New England continues on Tuesday evening with the topic "A Piece of the Carbon Mitigation Puzzle: America's Offshore Wind Energy Opportunity." The Director of the U.S. Offshore Wind Collaborative, Fara Courtney, will talk about the global offshore wind industry and its “potential, progress and challenges” in the United States and in the Northeast. The session runs 7:30-8:45 p.m. at the National Park Service Regional Visitors Center in Salem.

5. Patton: The Patton Advisory Committee meets on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. in the Memorial room at Hamilton Town Hall, where the committee will discuss possible housing on the Patton Homestead, which was donated to the town, plus the committee’s mission.
