Free Tom Cruise Movie to be Shown at Library

A daily look at five things to know to get the day started from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

It is Friday, Aug. 9. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham:

1. Rain: A heavy shower or thunderstorm is expected to roll through at some point on Friday, with gusty winds and temperatures in the 70s to around 80 degrees. The humidity will stick around, plus there is a slight chance of some minor flooding if the rain ends up super-heavy at some point.

2. ‘Oblivion’: Hamilton-Wenham Library will host a showing of “Oblivion” on Friday afternoon. The movie, starring Tom Cruiser, is rated PG-13 and will be shown at 2 p.m. on Friday and again at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

3. Free: It is again Free Fun Friday, with the Highland Street Foundation offering free admission to six different museums and cultural sites in the state. The closest one to use is in Boston, where The Sports Museum will be part of the event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Also offering free admission on Friday is Battleship Cove in Fall River, Ocean Explorium in New Bedford, The Eric Carle Museum in Amherst and The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster.

4. Leads: The North Shore Chamber of Commerce gets together on Friday for its North Shore Business Leads Group, where “many types of businesses who are intently focused on being a marketing force for each other” get together from 8-9:30 a.m. at the Chamber offices on Cherry Hill Drive in Danvers. The cost is $25.
