Five Things to Know: Pirate Puppets Unearth Buried Treasures

An essential get-me-going daily morning column from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

It is Wednesday, July 24. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham:

1. Sun: The sun is expected to return to the sky and temperatures will solidly get back into the 80s on Wednesday. The day may start foggy and there’s a chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm, but it will mostly be a classic summer day with the humidity still hanging around.

2. After Hours: The Beverly Chamber of Commerce brings its “After Hours” event to Hamilton on Wednesday for a gathering at the Boston Center for Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine. It is located right next to the Community House on Asbury Street and runs from 4:30-7 p.m. It will include drinks, hors d'oeuvres, networking and giveaways plus a chance to meet the therapists and tour the facility.

3. Puppets: It will be puppets at Hamilton-Wenham Library on Wednesday that will help unearth a buried treasure – a chest full of gold, jewels, and stories at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sparky's Puppets encourages children to “bring along a friend and share the adventure.”

4. Tennis: The professional World Team Tennis season comes to an end on Wednesday, meaning the season wraps up for the North Shore’s professional tennis team, Boston Lobsters. The Lobsters, who play at Manchester Athletic Club in neighboring Manchester-by-the-Sea, had their final home match on Monday, but finishes up with two road matches and will likely have to wait until Wednesday to find out if they are going to the playoffs. The team is tied for second place in the Eastern Conference with the New York Sportimes and Philadelphia Freedoms, who are all at 4-8.

It is one of only a few government boards and commissions that are meeting this week in both towns. The commission is scheduled to get an update on the level of the Ipswich River and plans to go into executive session to discuss the contract for Water Superintendent Erik Mansfield.
