It is Tuesday, Jan. 7. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham:

1. Cold: Tuesday will be a shock to the system after Monday’s balmy temperatures. The high temperature will be in the mid-teens and the wind chill will get as low as -4 degrees with wind blowing to 18-24 miles per hour with gusts to 37 mph. The sky will be sunny all day.

2. Bridge: You can learn the basics of Bridge starting Tuesday at Hamilton-Wenham Library. Bob Bonazoli of the Hamilton Duplicate Bridge Club teaches a bridge class on Tuesday evenings from 6-7:30 p.m. through Feb. 25. The classes are based on Audrey Grant's Bridge Basics, which can be purchased from Bonazoli or checked out of the library. Registration is required; call the Reference desk at 978-468-5577 or email Rebecca Shea at rshea@mvlc.org.

3. Transportation: The highway and transit projects in the Boston area, including Hamilton and Wenham, that will receive federal funding during the next four years will be discussed during two public sessions on Tuesday. The Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization is putting on the two sessions, open to the public, from 12:30-2 p.m. and 5:30-7 p.m. at the State Transportation Building, 10 Park Plaza in Boston.

4. Christmas trees: Tuesday is the final day that Christmas trees are being collected at Pingree Park for recycling.  The trees will be chipped by Dodge Tree and then brought to Brick Ends Farm, which will donate $1 per tree to Hamilton-Wenham Green.

5. Selectmen: The Wenham Board of Selectmen meets on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Wenham Town Hall, where the board is slated to go over the fiscal 2015 budget process and set a date for the Annual Town Meeting - April 5 – plus the board plans to go into executive session to discuss an employment complaint.
