Bucci Blood Drive Comes to High School Saturday

A daily look at five things to know to get the day started from Hamilton-Wenham Patch.

It is Friday, Jan. 10. Here are five things you need to know in Hamilton and Wenham:

1. Clouds: The temperature will be above freezing on Friday for the first time since Monday. The day will start out with some light snow, with less than half an inch, and then be cloudy all day with a high temperature of 38 degrees.

2. Blood Drive: The annual Ted Bucci Blood Drive is Saturday at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School. It will be from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. and anyone who makes a donation will receive a voucher for a free pound of Dunkin Donuts coffee.

3. Volunteers: There’s many volunteers opportunities available on the North Shore, including right here in Hamilton and Wenham, and many of those opportunities will be on display Friday from noon to 5 p.m. at the North Shore United Way office, 248 Cabot St., Beverly. It is next door to People’s United Bank in the downtown. Volunteers at the open house will show the United Way’s new volunteer website and help attendees find “meaningful volunteer opportunities.”

4. Coats: Sunday is the final day for the Coats for Kids drive by Anton’s Cleaners. Donated coats can be dropped off at any Anton’s location, including at the Shoppes at Hamilton Crossing.

5. Candidates: Paperwork becomes available Friday for anyone is wants to run for one of the four available seats on the Hamilton-Wenham Regional School Committee. Incumbents Roger Kuebel and Sean Condon have both said they will not seek reelection to a three year term, and Larry Swartz was appointed to fill an unexpired term until the April election, but said he will not run for the remaining two years of the term. Papers are available at the School District offices on School Street in Wenham.
